People living in the area that today is known as Argolid, Greece bury their dead in the Franchthi Cave.

The Neolithic Period begins. Local people are producing food, sailing the local seas and constructing simple houses in what today is mainland Greece and around the Aegean Sea.

The first Megaron House is built in central Greece at Sesclo.

Early fortifications are built at Dimini, Greece.

The Minoan Prepalatial civilization begins. It will last 400 years. Early Helladic period begins and will last for 1000 years. It is concurrent with the Aegean, or Early Bronze Age. The houses of Vasiliki, Myrtos and Tiles are built.

The Minoan civilization really blossoms.

The Minoan settlements are destroyed. The Mycenean enter the mainland of Greece.

Crete becomes home to the first palaces.

The Minoan palaces are destroyed. Settlements grow at Thera and Akrotiri. The Grave Circle B burial area is begun at Mycenae.

The Thera volcano erupts. It creates a huge caldera on the island, and may have been the cause of the eventual decline of the Minoan empire.

The Grave Circle A region is used for burials. The Greek legends of Heracles, Oedipus and the Voyage of the Argo are told. The Late Bronze Age begins. It lasts for 500 years.

Mycenae is the location where the Tholos Tomb is built.
