The 2600 system got Raiders of the Lost Ark, Real Sports Baseball and Volleyball, Football, and E. T.
Atari peaks at over 5,000 workers in Silicon Valley and $323.3 million in profits from $2 billion in sales.

Atari announces 5 games based on Sesame Street and 3 games based on Disney for the 2600. Other games announced for the 2600 include Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Centipede, Kangaroo, Phoenix, SwordQuest FireWorld, Jungle Hunt, Galaxian, Vanguard, and RealSports Soccer and Tennis. They announce Countermeasure, Galaxian, Jungle Hunt, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Kangaroo, Space Dungeon, Vanguard and Tennis for the 5200.
Atari lays off 1,700 employees in an effort to consolidate manufacturing overseas. Most of their employees are based in Silicon Valley, California. All the layoffs would affect the Consumer Products Group and the Home Computer Division.
Other titles released include Krull, Food Fight, Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Crystal Castles and Star Wars.
Atari consolidates the Consumer Electronics with its Home Computer Division.
The company announces the 600XL, the 800XL, the 1400XL and 1450XL home computers. The last two are never shipped to retail.
Major reorganization takes place in management.
Atari loses $539 million on sales of $1.1 billion.

New game titles continue to come out despite another major shakeup in management.
200 employees are laid off in California and the company stops all direct mail software sales.
The APX operation is shut down.
Atari pairs up with Lucasfilms to produce two games, Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus!
