March Darwin passes the Little Go exam at the University of Cambridge.
April Breaks up with gril friend Fanny Owen.
August Collects insects in Wales with and T. C. Eyton and Frederick William Hope.

January 22 Takes his final exam.
April 26 Passes his examinations and received his BA degree.
July 31 Planned a scientific voyage to Canary Islands, but he must ccancel his journey because his travel compagnion Marmaduke Ramsay dies.
August Makes a field trip in Wales with Professor of Geology Adam Sedgwick.
August John Stevens Henslow invites Charles Darwin to join as a naturalist on the survey ship H.M.S. Beagle.
December 27 Captain Robert FitzRoy sails his H.M.S. Beagle from Plymouth.
