D Day Timeline 1 - Timeline Help
D Day timeline part 1 of 4 from 00:11 hrs to 04:00 hrs at Timeline Help. Operation Overlord to liberate Europe from hour to hour. Tens of thousands of American, British, and Canadian joined forces to invade in the early morning of June 6th, 1944 the 50 mile long Franch beach line at Normandy, France. Hours of heavy combat and fighting follow, killing thousands of Allied forces who give their lives for our freedom. I have selected and written down the major historical events on D-Day in this four part D Day Timeline.

| Titanic teams land in Normandy and install amplifiers to play loud combat noise recordings. Hundreds of decoy paratrooper dummies are dropped to confuse the German troops.
The 101st US Airborne Pathfinders jump to mark drop zones for airborne gliders and troops. 17,000 British and American gliders and paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines.
Horsa gliders lands near the Caen canal and Orne.
In the east, pathfinders of the 22nd Independent Parachute Company mark drop zones for the 6th British Airborne Division paratroopers.
British Airborne troops capture the Caen canal and Orne River bridges. 4,000 British paratroopers land in the dark in marked zones.
At sea, the first of thousands of landing crafts are lowered into the water. Nearly 5,000 war ships and 1,400 aircrafts are bound for the coast line of Normandy.
In the west, Pathfinders of the 82nd US Airborne mark glider and paratrooper landing zones. 13,000 US paratroopers jump over Normandy, but many men are drowning in the flooded areas.
In England, Air Force bombers are taking off.
German Colonel Hamann of the 716. Infanterie-Division reports German LXXXIV Army Corps General Marcks in Saint-Lô that Allied paratroopers land near the Orne River and the Sainte-Mère-Eglise village.
German troops are in full alert, but do not combat at this time.
The USS Bayfield drops anchor off coast.
The USS Ancon drops anchor off coast.
German radars detect the Allied armada.
Allied troops start loading in the invasion crafts, the first major step in D Day timeline to H-Hour on the five Normandy beaches.
Near Ranville, the 6th British Airborne Division Headquarters lands with gliders.
Near Hiesville, gliders of Mission Chicago bring more men and material for the 101st US Airborne.
Near Sainte-Mère-Eglise, the gliders of Mission Detroit carry material for the US 82d Airborne. Allied troops now can seize Sainte-Mère-Eglise.
