Campaigns for Franklin for his bid for the Democratic vice-presidency. He fails.
Chairwoman of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the League of Women Voters.
Becomes friends with FDR's advisor Louis Howe, who learns her the art of public speaking.

Nurses her husband after he is paralyzed from polio.
Leader of the Dutchess County delegation to the state Democratic convention. Meets Elizabeth Read and Esther Lape.
Writes Common Sense Versus Party Regularity.

Joins the Women’s Trade Union League. Works with Rose Schneiderman and Maud Swartz.
Joins the Women's Division of the Democratic State Committee. Works with Democratic Party activists Nancy Cook and Marion Dickerman. Writes Why I Am a Democrat. Supports of the campaign of Democratic candidate Al Smith in his bid to become Governor of New York. Calls New York Republican Governor Nathan Miller a reactionary.

Elected to the Board of Directors of the Women's City Club in New York. Chairs Democratic women for the state Democratic convention. Co-chairs with Esther Lape the Bok Peace Prize Committee. Campaigns against the Republican candidate for Governor, her cousin Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. The Federal Bureau of Investigation starts a file on Eleanor.

Eleanor, Franklin Delano, Dickerman, Cook, and Caroline O'Day co-found the Val-Kill Cottage in Hyde Park. Radio debut to promote the Women's City Club. Editor of Women's Democratic News. Testifies before the state legislature on shorter working hours for women and children.

Eleanor Roosevelt, Dickerman and Cook purchase the New York City Todhunter School for girls, where she teaches history and government. Pickets with the Women's Trade Union League, is charged with disorderly conduct. Chairs Women's City Club Legislative Committee, and focus on a child labor amendment and safe housing. Campaigns for Democratic Robert Wagner for US Senate. Beginning of her statewide lecture tour.
