Henry Ford is born in Greenfield Township (Dearborn), Wayne County, Michigan to William and Mary Litogot Ford.

Mother Mary dies.

Works in machine shops and at the Michigan Car Company in Detroit.

Machine apprentice and watch repairman in his spare time.

Serviceman for steam-driven farm machinery, and steam engine operator at the Westinghouse company.

Attends the business school in Detroit.

Marries Clara Jane Bryant, the couple settles in Dearborn.

Engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company in Detroit.

Son Edsel is born. Chief Engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company. Experiments with his home-built internal combustion engine.

Constructs and tests his first car, the Ford Quadricyle, and demonstrates it on the streets of Detroit. Meets Thomas Edison.

Founds the Detroit Automobile Company and becomes Chief Engineer.

The Detroit Automobile Company fails after arguing with his financers, and Henry founds a new automobile venture, the Henry Ford Company.

Wins an automobile race with his 80+ horsepower racer 999, with driver Barney Oldfield.

The first Model A is launched.

Introduces the affordable Model T.

Builds an automobile plant in Highland Park, Michigan.

Wins the lawsuit on patenting George Selden vs Henry Ford.

Introduces the modern assembly line for mass production of his popular cars. Opens plants in Britain and Canada due to the successful T Ford.
