U.K army Interservice Hovercraft Trials Unit (IHTU) tests military applications at Lee-on-the-Solent.

June The third SR-N4 is completed at East Cowes and flies to Pegwell Bay Hoverport.
July The GH-2008 SRN4 Mountbatten class hovercraft is named Sir Christopher.

Hoverlloyd converts its three SR-N4s to Mk2 specification: the GH-2004 Swift, GH-2005 and the GH-2008 Sir Christopher.
