Magnavox Co. files patent infringement against Atari, Bally and several other companies alleging that coin operated video games infringed on the patent they held on the Magnavox Odyssey home video game system.
More games released by Atari: Touch-Me, Coup Franc, Trak 10, Gran Trak 20, Puppy Pong, Trak 20, Dr. Pong, Qwak and Pin-Pong.
Kee Games merged into Atari.

The home version of Pong is introduced at the New York Toy Fair.
Atari releases Dodgeball, Hi-Way, Anti-Aircraft, Goal IV, Shark JAWS, Steeplechase, Jet Fighter, and Crash 'N Score in this year.

Atari establishes a new Consumer Division.
Settles the infringement lawsuit with Magnavox, paying $100,000 per year to be licensed to use their technology.
Games released include Stunt Cycle, Outlaw, Breakout, Hockey Pong, Cops n' Robbers, Flyball, Le Mans, and Night Driver.
Atari becomes a subsidiary of Warner Communications, Inc. The sale terms included Warner funding a restaurant with Bushnell's idea of games, pizza and electronic animals and a non-competition agreement.

Atari releases Video Music, Dominos, Triple Hunt, Sprint 8, Time 2000, Pool Shark, Drag Race, Starship 1, Super Bug, Airborne Avenger, Destroyer, Canyon Bomber and Sprint 4.
Video Computer System (VCS) introduced at the 12th annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and shipped with several games. This later became the Atari 2600.

Atari releases 9 new games for the VCS: Space War, Outlaw, Home Run, Breakout, Hunt & Score, Hangman, Codebreaker and Basketball.
Cabinet games released, including Sprint 1, Middle Earth, Sky Raider, Tournament, Avalanche, Sky Diver, Fire Truck, Space Riders, Super Breakout, Atari Football and Orbit.
