Poyning's Law is established, whereby the Irish Parliament could not pass a law unless the English Parliament consented.

Irish Parliament passes the Crown of Ireland Act, establishing the Kingdom of Ireland to be ruled by Henry VIII and his successors.

Pope Pius V issues a papal bull declaring Elizabeth I of England a heretic. This releases her subjects from any allegiance to her or her reign.

The Flight of the Earls takes place. Hugh O'Neill, and Rory O'Donnell leave Ireland.

Irish Rebellion takes place in October.

Reforms are passed by the Parliament of Great Britain. Poyning's Law is repealed among other reforms.

The 2nd Irish Rebellion occurs as Robert Emmet tries to seize Dublin Castle.

The Catholic Emancipation: The Catholic Relief Act of 182 is passed, allowing Catholics to hold seats in Parliament.

The Great Irish Famine occurs. Potato blight destroys 2/3 of Ireland's staple crop causing many to die and many others to emigrate.

The Easter Rising occurs. The Irish Republican Brotherhood seizes key government buildings in Dublin.
