March - September 69 The SR-N6 Seaspeed East Cowes to Portsmouth service.
Townsend Car Ferries offers off the beach joy-rides from the cities of Hastings, Greatstone, and Folkestone with the SR-N6 Britannia.

April - September 72 Seaspeed flights from Portsmouth to Ryde.
Hoverlloyd SR-N6 service from Ramsgate to Calais.
The Mountbatten class SR-N4 is launched.
June 11 First hovercraft car ferry service from Dover to Boulogne with the Mountbatten class hovercraft SR-N4, which is contructed by B H C.
August Seaspeed begins a Dover to Boulogne link with the SR-N4 Princess Margaret.
The Princess Margaret is docked for technical clean ups and a new Mk II skirt.

Dover to Boulogne-sur-Mer link by Hovercraft and Seacat.

January The Hoverlloyd Swift SR-N4 is named Swift by the wife of Prime Minister Harold Wilson, Mary. This is the first of a series of ceremonial openings and lauch celebrations in this hovercraft timeline 3.
April The Calais Hoverport is opened.
May His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh opens the Pegwell Bay Hoverport terminal.
June The Hoverlloyd Sure SR-N4 is named by the wife of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Paris, Mrs. Soames.
August The Seaspeed SR-N4 Princess Anne begins with her first services.
Townsend Car Ferries sells its SR-N6 to the Hoverwork company. She becomes a flat-deck freighter.
October 21 The Seaspeed SR-N4 Princess Anne is officially named by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne at Dover.
October 29 A craft propeller damages the Hoverport in the town of Pegwell Bay.
Christopher Cockerell is knighted by Her Majesty The Queen. From now on it's Sir Christopher Cockerell.
