The single Holiday hits the Top 40.
The single Borderline hits the Top 10. This is the first of 17 consecutive Top 10 hits.
The album Madonna is certified gold in March.
Her hit single, Like a Virgin is released on November 12.
Madonna appears on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
She begins her Virgin Tour.

Appears at Live Aid.
The single Material Girl is released.
Madonna makes her movie debut in Desperately Seeking Susan with Rosanna Arquette.
She marries actor Sean Penn on her birthday.
The nude photos taken by Lee Friedlander in 1978 are published in Penthouse and Playboy magazines. When asked how she felt about the photos making a sudden appearance just when she has become so popular, Madonna replies, So what?.

Releases the album True Blue.
