His son, Claude is born to Francoise. Picasso begins working with pottery.

Takes part in the Wroclaw Congress of Intellectuals for Peace in Poland.

His daughter, Paloma is born to Francoise.

Picasso and Francoise separate. He meets Jacqueline Roque, who would become his companion until the end of his life.

His wife, Olga, dies.

Paints Las Meninas, which he would later donate to the Picasso Museum in Barcelona in 1968.

Marries Jacqueline Roque.

Works with engraving over the next two years.

Donates over 900 of his works to the Picasso Museum in Barcelona.

Eight of Picasso's paintings are installed in the Louvre, marking the first time a living artist's work was hung in this prestigious museum.

Passes away at home in Mougins, France. He is buried in the gardens at Vauvenargues Castle near Aix –en-Provence that he purchased in 1958.
