Received the Navy and Marine Corps medal for Gallantry in Action and the Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1945.

Joseph Kennedy, Junior died flying on a military mission in Europe.

Kennedy ran for U. S. Representative for Massachusetts. He won by a large margin. Not the first time in the President Kennedy Timeline. He served as congressman for six years, voting his conscience instead of the party line.

Kennedy was diagnosed with Addison's disease, an endocrine disorder.

Kennedy won the U. S. Senate seat from Henry Cabot Lodge, Junior.

Kennedy married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier.

Kennedy underwent serious spinal operations to repair damage suffered during World War II. During his convalescence, he wrote Profiles in Courage.

Kennedy finished in second place to be the Vice Presidential running mate for Adlai Stevenson.

Kennedy and his wife had their first child. He won the Pulitzer for Profiles in Courage.

Kennedy announced his intention to run for President of the United States. He got the Democratic nomination in July. He chose Lyndon B. Johnson as his running mate to provide the support of the South. The televised debates between Kennedy and Nixon marked a change in how politics would be decided in the future ... using visual media.

Kennedy won the presidency over Richard Nixon by a very narrow margin. The vote was 49.7% to 49.5%. John Kennedy, Junior was born 17 days after the election.

Kennedy was sworn in as President of the United States. He made one of his most famous speeches: Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.
