| Eldrick Woods is born in Cypress, Southern California to retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl and Thai Kultida Woods. Given the nickname Tiger after Earl's friend and Vietnamese combat buddy Nguyen Phong; he has a the same nickname.
Starts playing golfing by imitating his father's swing at the age of six months.
At the age of two he appears on the Mike Douglas TV Show and plays golf with comedian Bob Hope.
Three years old Tiger shoots a 48 over nine holes at the Navy Golf Club in Cypress, Calififornia. Beats a pro by two strokes, but club members oppose against certification.
When 5 years old he appears at the in Golf Digest magazine and on the ABC TV Show That's Incredible showing his golfing talent. Tiger's first pro Rudy Duran compares him with Mozart.
Performs on The Today Show, Good Morning America, ESPN, ABC, NBC, and CBS.
Father Earl starts traing his son psychologically.
Wins the Optimist International Junior World Golf Championship at the Presidio Hills Golf Course in San Diego, only not in 1986.
Plays the Insurance Youth Golf Classic in Fort Worth with professional tour pros. Becomes Southern California Amateur Player of the Year.
Wins the Insurance Youth Golf Classic Big I National. Second PGA National Junior Championship. Southern California Amateur Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Voted Amateur Player of the Year by Golf Digest.
