July 20 Neil Armstrong becomes the first human to walk on the Moon. Armstrong on July 20: "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed." Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the Moon.
April NASA selects Pete Conrad (Commander), Dick Gordon and Alan Bean for Apollo 12.
August NASA selects Alan Shepard (Commander), Stu Roosa and Edgar Mitchell for Apollo 14.
August NASA selects Jim Lovell (Commander), Ken Mattingly and Fred Haise for Apollo 13 mission.
November 14 - 24 Apollo 12 Saturn V mission (aka Yankee Clipper and Intrepid). Second manned lunar landing mission and lunar surface mission. Astronauts Pete Conrad (Commander), Dick Gordon and Alan Bean.
November 19 - 20 Alan Bean and Pete Conrad walk on the Moon.

March NASA selects Dave Scott (Commander), and Al Worden and Jim Irwin for Apollo 15.
Saturn V April 11 - 17 Apollo 13 Saturn V mission (aka Odyssey and Aquarius). Third lunar landing attempt. Mission aborted after rupture of service of the module oxygen tank. Astronauts Jim Lovell (Commander), Jack Swigert and Fred Haise.
September NASA selects Dick Gordon (Commander), Vance Brand and Jack Schmitt for Apollo 18.
NASA selects Fred Haise (Commander), William Pogue and Gerald Carr for Apollo 19.
Apollo 18, 19 and 20 are cancelled.
