Esteban Enrique Bellán also known as Steve Bellán is the first Cuban and the first Latin American to play professional baseball.
The Cincinnati Red Stockings becomes the first all professsional club.

The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players - NAPBBP - aka the National Association - NA - is founded.

American professor Horace Wilson introduces baseball to Japan.
