Esteban Enrique Bellán also known as Steve Bellán is the first Cuban and the first Latin American to play professional baseball. The Cincinnati Red Stockings becomes the first all professsional club. The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players - NAPBBP - aka the National Association - NA - is founded. American professor Horace Wilson introduces baseball to Japan. First offical game in Cuba, between a Havana and a Matanzas team. The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs replaces the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players. Four Louisville Grays players throw games in exchange for bribes from gamblers. The Cuban League is established. The reserve clause is introduced: teams may automatically renew players' contracts at the end of each season. American Association - AA - Major League is formed. Louis Rogers - Pete - Browning uses the custom made Louisville Slugger for the first time.
