Nintendo releases the first two Pokemon games for the GameBoy in the United States, along with a new Legend of Zelda title. They also released the GameBoy Color, which featured a color screen.
Sega released the Dreamcast game system, featuring 200 MHz 128-bit Hitachi SH-4 processor, a 12X speed 1 GB CD-ROM drive and 56 kbps modem.

Sony introduced the Playstation 2, probably the most popular game system of all time.
Sega introduced SegaNet, the first online gaming site related to a console.
The Sims is introduced, launching the best-selling PC game series in history.

New systems in 2001 included the Nintendo GameBoy Advance, the Nintendo GameCube, and the Microsoft Xbox.

The first television network dedicated to gaming, G4, debuts.

The Nintendo DS hits the stores as the newest handheld game system.

Sony released the PSP, another portable gaming system to compete with the DS.
Microsoft released the Xbox 360.

Nintendo released the Wii, a game console with revolutionary game play that let the player use the controller like a racket, a steering wheel and more. The Wii comes with several sports-related mini games that make this console appeal to a broad spectrum of users. It is even used in nursing homes to encourage residents to get a little exercise. The popular title released for the Wii was Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Sony introduces the Playstation 3, which featured sophisticated graphics and stunned fans with the expensive cost.

Nintendo launched Wii Fit, which helped players also get in shape through the use of mini exercise games.
